How we set it up
Deep and less often beats a little every day
Watering a little every day keeps roots near the surface, where they dry out first in a heatwave. Watering deeply and less often sends them down, and the garden copes far better when summer arrives.
Each zone is set to suit what is growing in it, and the controller is adjusted as the seasons turn, so the garden is not watered in winter the way it was in January.

Questions about irrigation systems
Can you fix an existing irrigation system?
Usually, yes. We check the controller, zones, lines and heads, fix what is broken, and tell you if any part is not worth repairing.
Is dripline or a sprinkler better?
Each has its place. Dripline puts water at the roots in garden beds with little lost to evaporation, and pop-up sprays suit lawns. Most gardens end up with both, on separate zones.
How often should irrigation run?
Less often than most people expect, but for longer. Deep watering grows deep roots. The right schedule changes with the season, so the controller is adjusted through the year.
Can irrigation water pots and planters?
Yes. Small drip emitters can water pots and planters one by one, which helps most in exposed spots that dry out quickly.
